Fidelity Flight Simulation has just completed an upgrade of the Universal 890R avionics training suite on its RC-12/King Air 300 full motion simulator at Potomac Flight Training, a subsidiary of Avenge, Inc. in Sterling, VA. The Universal 890R avionics are integrated with a stimulated WAAS-enabled UNS-1Fw FMS Cockpit Display Unit, and are now capable of representing flight plans and approach procedures graphically on the simulated 890R EFIS displays.
The UNS-1Fw FMS system supports Universal’s Multi-Mission Management Systems (MMMS) technology, including Mark-On-Target, Drifting Target, and the ability to fly preprogrammed patterns. Universal’s MMMS is highly regarded for special mission operations such as search and rescue, reconnaissance, surveillance, maritime patrol, border patrol, photogrammetry, and airways checking.
With the Fidelity Universal upgrade, the Potomac Flight Training RC-12/King Air 300 simulation device is one of the most sophisticated Universal 890R training systems in service. The Potomac Flight Training full motion simulator is reconfigurable between the RC-12 and King Air 300 and was the first successful integration of a WAAS-enabled Universal UNS-1w Flight Management System in a simulated flight environment.
