Fidelity Flight Simulation recently delivered the second of two Cockpit Procedure Trainers (CPTs) to SAIC for use by the U.S. Army. This project was part of a subcontract with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) through the U.S. Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO-STRI). Both CPTs are fixed base devices based on the RC-12X platform with the Universal 890R Avionics suite. Using an open architecture design, the devices were fabricated with the possibility to be upgraded to a Collins ProLine 21 suite in the future.
A mixture of touchscreens and actual Universal Avionics LRUs for the UNS-1Fw were installed to provide a cost effective and realistic training environment. Close coordination with Ft Huachuca Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) helped create over 170 specific malfunction scenarios to allow the CPTs to meet the specific needs to the RC-12X training program. The CPTs were delivered separately and on time. Fidelity Flight Simulation’s Project Manager Chris Rokitski is quoted as saying; “This is the first product we have built that will be used by the U.S. Army. We are very proud to have completed them both on time and within budget.”
